Been short the Q’s for a couple of weeks. It’s a resilient bugger.

Me too, but it was a mistake. Why would one short the Q’s, as it contains a mixed bag of all kind of companies, some of them are doing perfectly well?
I would stay away from major indexes right now and go long and short as above.

Mostly, I’ve been shorting housing-related indices and select stocks like Countrywide that I track closely. The latter concern has a great spin machine that gooses the stock every month or so.
Occasionally, I play the Q’s as a proxy for the S&P. I’m betting that diversification out of the 10-year will keep rates above 5, which will ultimately give us an overdue correction in the broader averages. This is, however, a small position compared to my housing positions.
